Softsynth’s Flavour of the month: DayBehavior

This Swedish trio came onto the Softsynth radar in earnest some months ago after a handful of tracks and an early album languished for years in our iTunes playlist. Tracks like “City Lights” and particularly, “It’s a Game” were great traditional old-school synth pop songs but it’s with the newest single, “Silent Dawn” that they are starting to tap into something special. The beautifully produced soft-tempo song practically floats along and spotlights what a lovely voice vocalist Paulinda Crescentini really has. It’s a very promising teaser for forthcoming album Follow That Car!

But this band isn’t new to the scene. Their origins go back a full 20 years (!) and the new album marks their third since 2003. Earlier works like debut, Have You Ever Touched a Dream were very uneven projects, trying to find their way in a crowded scene, but their newest songs show a whole new promise that make us very excited for the new album (due September 1 – September shaping up to be the month for electronic music with new VNV Nation, Assemblage 23 and that from a host of leading genre bands). Even after many years poking around the edges DayBehavior are emerging as one of the truly thrilling bands of the scene and meanwhile we keep “Silent Dawn” on constant rotation at the Softsynth house as we await the new long player…
